dereaction, text-image, 2017
‘dereaction’ examines the online reactions found under shared articles within social media. By comparing these reactions with the same article from the physical newspaper, a new image is created. In these text-images the large amount of reactions is typed on top of each other, leaving only the two most common keywords visible which are also present within the article itself. Often these reactions are short-sighted and capable of manipulating our view on the related article. In these new images they erase their clutter while creating their own kind of essence.
