Impress me, text-image, 2020
On dating apps like Tinder it is expected of us to impress each other. First with our images and later within our online conversations. But what if we could directly im-press ourselves upon someone’s image, writing about someone from our own perspective and fill the gaps in their image with our own narrative. This way we could immediately be open about our view towards someone, after which they can adjust or comfirm this view.
When matching with someone’s profile on Tinder, I immediately started expressing my first impression by writing a narrative which was inspired by one of their images. By doing this I am directly sharing my view of them in the form of a small story. Within this text my own personal opinions and beliefs are being merged with my image of them, resulting in a mixture of personalities.
